Arts Showcase is an event put on by SAFA that is designed to celebrate the talent of students within the Faculty of Arts. SAFA will be presenting scholarship recipients with their awards and there will also be a number of students presenting their work. Hors d'oeuvres will be provided, and there will be a cash bar. The biggest Science event of the year is finally here! Science Formal will be taking place at the Shaw Centre’s Trillium Ballroom on March 29th, 2019 starting at 6:00 PM. Want to pimp your laptop, phone, bedroom wall, car, or any other surface with stickers that leave little to no residue? If so, the DIY Club has the workshop for you!
Over the course of the 2hr workshop, Candide Uyanze (former graphic designer) will lead you through a vinyl sticker workshop, where you will get to design your own stickers and print them out on vinyl sticker paper.
The $5 ticket includes one sheet of A4 matte vinyl self-adhesive sticker paper, access to inkjet printers, and an introduction to graphic design using the free open-source software GIMP (please make sure to download the software ahead of time and bring a laptop).
This is our most requested workshop, so make sure to purchase a ticket before they sell out!

To celebrate Pi Month, IEEE and Ottabotics have partnered to create a set of workshop letting you go from Raspberry Pi newbie to project ready! These events are BYOP (Bring your own Pi) though if you cannot find a Raspberry Pi we will have a handful of boards people can use for the event.
In this workshop, we will be showing you how to use OpenCV ( a popular Computer Vision library) to do object recognition as well as how that can be used on Pi for a variety of projects.
These workshops are intended for beginners, we recommend attending the introduction workshop for those new to Pi but all workshops are intended to be accessible for everyone! If you are looking to get a Raspberry Pi for the events, our organizers have had good experience with the markerstore (found at the makerspace) and [BuyAPi.ca](http://buyapi.ca) (though we have no affiliation with ether store, just personal experiences ordering in the past).

The Fulcrum is hosting its first ever trivia night on Saturday, March 23rd at 6pm.
The event will take place at your local Father and Sons restaurant located at 112 Osgoode street.

About This Event
The Ottawa Coffee Fest is a one-day event that will bring coffee lovers together to experience and celebrate the unique offerings of local roasters and shops. In addition to a great selection of coffee, there will be food, entertainment, workshops, speakers, and more!
How It Works
You'll be able to enjoy coffee samples and beverages from different roasters using a token-based system.
Tokens are $0.50 each and 1 token = 1 sample.
Token prices for espresso-based drinks may vary by vendor. Menus will be posted at their booths. Tokens can be purchased at the festival.
Who's Going To Be There
We are proud to bring you a selection of coffee, food, and merchandise from vendors in and around the Ottawa area. You'll be able to enjoy items from: Bridgehead, Equator, Happy Goat, and many more. See our website for the full lineup.

In partnership with our equipment supplier, Dalla Corte, there will be two rotating espresso stations with different vendors taking over every hour. Schedule to be announced.

Social Sciences Ball 2019 | Bal des sciences sociales 2019

The federated bodies of the Faculty of Social Sciences is honoured to present Magnum Opus, this year’s annual Social Science Ball. Hosted at the National Gallery of Canada, this masterpiece-themed event will feature a night of entertainment, endless canapés, and an opportunity to stroll through the gallery. We will also be hosting an after party at Ppl. at an added cost. More details will come promptly regarding that.
Early bird tickets will be $40 and will be available February 11 to anyone in the following Social Sciences associations: CHRA, CSA, DSA, ESA, IPPSSA, PSA, and SASA. After March 1, 2019, ticket prices will be raised to $45. Sales will be made on a first come, first serve basis—so be sure to acquire yours speedily! Tickets for the after party will be $5 and can be purchased along with your gala tickets.
This year’s Gala will feature a charity component, as we will be attempting to raise money for the Ten Oaks Project, an organization made to empower LGBTQ+ youth. There will be opportunities to win prizes while donating money to this charity, including a balloon pop, and all proceeds will be donated on behalf of the Faculty of Social Sciences.
